Custom Mold Development Solutions for Precision Tooling, Exclusive Hardware & Scalable Production
In-House Design & Manufacturing, Fast Prototyping, High Precision Tooling for Exclusive Custom Metal Fittings
The Tooling Foundation Behind Accurate Custom Hardware Production
Mold quality directly affects dimensional accuracy, surface quality, repeatability, production efficiency and the long-term economics of a custom hardware program.
Mold development is the foundation of custom hardware production. At Junhao Hardware, with 19+ years of specialized handbag and luggage hardware manufacturing experience, we operate a full in-house tooling workshop equipped with advanced CNC machining centers and staffed by experienced mold engineers dedicated exclusively to bag hardware tooling.
We design and build custom molds for all core manufacturing processes including high pressure die casting, precision stamping and cold forging. Whether you need a complex 3D zinc alloy die cast mold, a progressive stamping die for flat parts or a forging mold for high-strength components, our team delivers high-precision, long-lasting tooling built to your exact specifications.
Every custom mold is developed under strict confidentiality agreements. We never share, reproduce or repurpose exclusive brand molds for third parties. We also provide full DFM (Design for Manufacturability) analysis to optimize your design for production efficiency, quality and cost.
Tooling Control From First CAD Decision to Final Trial Approval
Custom tooling is managed as an engineering system rather than a separate outsourced step, allowing precision, mold life, project confidentiality and production readiness to be controlled together.
100% In-House Mold Manufacturing
All mold design, machining, fitting and testing are completed in our own tooling workshop. No outsourcing, full control over precision, quality and lead time.

Optimize the Part Before the Mold Becomes Expensive to Change
During requirement evaluation, our engineering team reviews drawings, samples or concepts, identifies potential manufacturability issues and provides optimization suggestions before mold manufacturing begins.
Review product geometry, expected material flow and areas that may affect forming stability.
Design detailed mold structure with CAD software, including cavity layout, gating system, ejection mechanism and cooling system.
Confirm the mold design with the client before manufacturing.
Use DFM analysis to optimize production efficiency, quality and cost before the tooling is finalized.
Six Engineering Passes From Requirement Evaluation to Production Handover
The mold is not considered finished when machining stops. It moves through trial production, dimensional and functional verification, parameter correction, final sample approval and maintenance planning before long-term production.
Requirement Evaluation & DFM Analysis
Review your design drawings, samples or concepts. Our engineering team conducts manufacturability analysis, identifies potential issues and provides optimization suggestions.

Questions Buyers Ask Before Investing in Dedicated Tooling
These answers cover mold selection, DFM, precision, tooling life, ownership, modification, reverse engineering and the transition from trial tooling into production.
01When does a custom hardware project need a dedicated mold?
Custom mold development is appropriate for brand-exclusive signature hardware, new product lines, complex 3D designs that cannot use standard parts, limited or designer series, proprietary tooling requirements, and redesign or mold-upgrade projects.
02How do you choose between die casting, stamping and forging molds?
Die casting molds are used for zinc alloy or brass parts including locks, buckles, logos and complex 3D hardware. Stamping tooling supports flat or formed sheet-metal parts, while forging molds are used for high-strength load-bearing hardware such as hooks, rings and chain components.
03What is DFM analysis and why is it done before mold manufacturing?
DFM means Design for Manufacturability. Junhao reviews drawings, samples or concepts, identifies potential manufacturing issues and provides optimization suggestions before tooling is cut, with the goal of improving production efficiency, quality and cost.
04Can you reverse engineer a mold project from a physical sample?
Yes. Reverse engineering from physical samples is included in the additional mold services together with mold modification, design revision, refurbishment, maintenance and DFM optimization.
05What dimensional precision can your molds achieve?
Die casting molds are specified at ±0.05mm standard precision and ±0.02mm high precision for fine details. Stamping molds are specified at ±0.03mm standard precision, with consistent cavity-to-cavity uniformity for multi-cavity tools.
06How long can a custom mold last?
Standard die cast mold steel is listed at 80,000–150,000 shots, premium die cast mold steel at 200,000–300,000+ shots, standard stamping dies at 500,000–1,000,000 strokes, and progressive stamping dies at 1,000,000–3,000,000+ strokes. Actual lifespan varies by material, part complexity and production conditions.
07What is the difference between single-cavity and multi-cavity die casting molds?
The service range includes single-cavity molds for small-batch projects and multi-cavity molds for high-volume mass production. The correct configuration depends on your intended production scale and project requirements.
08Can the mold be adjusted after the first trial run?
Yes. After the first trial molding, dimensions, surface quality, structure and function are inspected. The mold can then be fine-tuned, cavity surfaces polished and gating adjusted before final samples are submitted for written approval.
09Do you provide mold refurbishment and maintenance?
Yes. Existing mold refurbishment and maintenance are part of the additional mold services, and regular mold maintenance is also provided after production handover to support consistent long-term performance.
10Who owns the custom mold after development?
All custom molds are the exclusive property of the client. Project details, designs and tooling are protected by non-disclosure agreements, and client molds are not used for other projects.
11What happens after the mold is approved?
After final sample approval, the mold is transferred to the production line for mass production. Ongoing maintenance is provided to support consistent long-term mold performance.
12What should we send to start a mold-development quotation?
You can send design drawings, physical samples or design concepts. The engineering team can then conduct DFM analysis, review manufacturability and prepare a detailed quotation for the required die casting, stamping or forging tooling.
